A zoetrope is a
device that produces the illusion of motion from a rapid succession of static
pictures. The term zoetrope is from the Greek words ζωή (zoē), meaning "alive, active", and τροπή (tropē), meaning
"turn", with "zoetrope" taken to mean "active
turn" or "wheel of life". [From Wikipedia, the free encyklopedia].
Here is a film by Mark
Simon Hewis showing a story of one man’s life in a live human sized zoetrope.
The film was made with
the participation of 36 people holding sketchbooks who are riding a carousel.
The speed of it brings together the pictures into one moving image. That’s pure creativity!
One more thing worth mentioning
– the moving image sequence was taken in one take live action shot. Amazing.
